cross-document navigation, interactive indices and search engine
use on offline (particularly laptop) computers
controlled interface and precise presentation of information
high resolution printability on a broad variety of output devices
distribution of semi-confidential and/or tamper-proof material
concentrate on the essential - avoid information overkill
